Fine condition. Burgundy red cloth hardback with gilt lettering on front and spine. No markings.

Front, back and spine are clean with bright lettering. A part of the Contemporary Science Series. An uncommon to scarce title, except in reprint or subsequent revisions. Originally published in 1894; this is a Fine copy of the Third Edition, characterized as from "The Contemporary Science Series." Ellis was a pioneer in the study of human sexuality, with a somewhat diminished reputation due to his support for the now-disgraced "science" of eugenics.

Maroon cloth binding with gilt lettering on the front cover and spine. There is light foxing on a few of the front pages; 409 pages, with two indices and 12 pages of publisher adverts in the rear.
